The Gutenberg Press

The invention of the Gutenberg press in the mid-15th century, around 1440, marked one of the most transformative moments in human history. Before Johannes Gutenberg’s innovation, books were laboriously copied by hand, a process that was expensive, time-consuming, and reserved for a privileged few. With his movable type press, Gutenberg revolutionized the way knowledge could be recorded and shared.
